Is it possible to go to Koh Lipe from Langkawi during low season? I heard Koh Lipe is closed during rainy season, is that true?
Well Immigration in Koh Lipe is closed during low season in Koh Lipe and yes, many places are closed also.
With immigration closed that means you have to go to Satun first to clear immigration before you can take the ferry to Koh Lipe. Sure it takes a bit longer time and it costs a little bit more but it is perfectly doable.
How: Take the ferry from the Jeti in Kuah to Satun, clear immigration, go to Pok Bara (the harbour) and take a ferry there to Koh Lipe.
Many resorts and restaurants, especially on the beaches is closed. There is lot less tourists visiting the island but you can go, if you want to. You will get even more serenity on the island now than on the bustling high season.
There will be rain but not all the time and the rain is not cold so it´s ok. More winds also but that is great when it is 35 degrees hot.
SO, yes, tiy can go to Koh Lipe during low season /rainy season for sure. And it will probably be absolutely amazing because so many people heard it´s closed and wont even try to go. It might even be like it was before it got exploited?
I know one hotel, one bar and one restaurant that is open. I know there are more places open, opeople are still living on this island and needs food and drinks, right? But I cannot say for a certainty what is open.
OMG! The bar is open, Pooh´s, the restaurant, is open and Gipsy resort on the main road is also open.
Enjoy your stay in Koh Lipe!
